Evaluation and Assessment

                                           

To ensure that Carsonville Public Library is fulfilling its mission to provide access to informational, educational, cultural and recreational library materials and services in a variety of format and technologies, Carsonville Library must continuously evaluate its collection. Carsonville Library evaluates its collection using statistical tools such as circulation reports, collection turnover rates, percentages of materials ordered, shelf allotments and volume counts. These are studied to determine how the collection is being used and how it should change to answer patron usage. The collection's holdings are also checked against standard bibliographic tools and subject specialty catalogs and lists to be sure that the library is acquiring recommended material. The condition of materials and their frequency of use are also examined. Carsonville Public Library uses quantitative and qualitative methods to ensure that the collection is serving the public. Internet resources are monitored to make sure that sites are still current and operational. Non-working or out of date sites will be removed from the collection.
